Big name. Big payday
There is no doubt that Jason Robertson is an absolute star (pun intended). The stars forward has two 80+ point seasons, and a 109 point season to start his career with the team. It is clear that Robertson, while being a fan-favorite, has the talent to back up a massive payday from Jim Nill and company. However, a problem arises when discussing amount.
Some fans think Robertson is worth 10.5M+ per year. Others think he’s worth upwards of fellow teammate Miko Rantanens salary of 12M+ per year. If Robertson is paid what he’s worth, it would mark a catastrophe for the Stars salary cap, leading to less depth for the Stars overall.
More pain for DFW sports fans?
This year has been the most grueling years in the history of DFW sports. First Nico Harrison deals franchise cornerstone Luka Doncic to LA for Anthony Davis and Max Christie.
Not to be outdone by Harrison, Jerry Jones stepped up and dealt superstar Micah Parson’s away to the Green Bay Packers. In return for Parsons the Cowboys acquired two 1st round picks and Pro Bowl defensive tackle Kenny Clark. Could Roberson be the third DFW Star to head to the exit?
Jim Nill isn’t worried

Nill’s comments are sure to ease the nerves of Stars fans everywhere. Nill stated that he is “confident that we’re going to get something done”. This likely means that, while in a standstill, both parties want to cooperate.
Nill has emphasized there is “no rush,” signaling to fans that the three-time GM of the Year intends to keep his core talent in Dallas—separating himself from other DFW executives who have swept their superstars out the door.
